Adaptec CD-RW CD creation on Windows XP SP2?

I have an Inspiron 4000 with an Adaptec CD-RW. The original OS was Windows 2000 and the kit came with a CD that contains the Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02d_D8, Adaptec DirectCD 3.01d_D8, Dell Version 8.0.

I recently upgraded the OS to Windows XP SP2 but I found that I am unable to burn a CD with Windows XP SP2 alone.

Do I need to install the Adaptec software that is compatible with Windows XP SP2? If so please tell me where I can download the Windows XP SP2 equivalents of the Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02d_D8, Adaptec DirectCD 3.01d_D8, Dell Version 8.0 as well as any other software that I may not know about.

Thanks for your help

Easy CD Creator and all associated software is no longer owned by Adaptec. The software is now owned by Roxio here:

As old as the software is you probably need to upgrade to a newer version anyway. I personally recommend Nero Burning ROM here:

You will not find a downloadable update for your version of Adaptec Easy CD Creator ... Then again your old version may work, but then again it may not. There is only one way to know for sure, try it.

jcoromina,

Do not install Roxio version 4 on the XP machine, it is not compatible and all you will get are headaches.
From Roxio`s forum.

You need version 5 for XP SP1, then SP2 came along and messed up version 5. Oh, you can get version 5.3.5X to work some of the time but not worth the trouble.
As geek mentioned, Nero is a good choice, but you will need version 6.1X or better for SP2.

Free software such as CD BurnerPro or Deepburn can be used or prchase a new compatible program.

Good day,
Severus
