BLANK PAGE - INTERNET EXPLORER - DRIVE DEFENDER

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me? Anytime I go on my internet home page, after a few seconds a blank page comes up and the only way to get rid of it is by hitting the windows or desktop key but each time I go online the same thing happens. Also I purchased security for my laptop but I was wondering, would DRIVE DEFENDER also be a form of security because it keeps operating on my system. And if it is should I/could I get rid of it? I would appreciate any help on these matters URGENTLY, as my computer seems to be running slow with the two working together. Thanks.
