BOOTMGR IMAGE IS CORRUPTED.

I received a message "BOOTMGR IMAGE IS CORRUPTED” when starting Windows Vista. I reinstalled Vista but was not able to start Windows after reinstallation. Is this a problem of hardware and must be fixed at DELL? My warranty period has expired 3 months ago. Is purchasing new one cheaper than repairing? My notebook is Inspiron 1720.

Vista has a built in Startup Repair that you can access by using the Boot Menu--F12 at the very first screen. Directions here.
