Cannot install XP Pro using slipstreamed SP3 CD, may relate to SATA/AHCI but why and how to fix?

My PC is dell 9150. HD is WD 160GB SATA. SATA setting is RAID/AHCI.

As XP SP3 is out, I want to give my PC a fresh reinstall with SP3. So I find back the Dell XP CD, and slipstreamed it with SP3 I downloaded from MS, and make another CD. I did so using nLite, with no problem.

Then I start the PC with this slipstreamed SP3 CD. However, after EULA, it has problem recognizing my HD. It says 'Unknown Disk (No disk in drive)' twice in lower part of screen, and if I press Enter, it gives blue screen with 0x00000050 error on setupdd.sys.

I tried to start with my original SP2 CD, there is no problem.

I changed in BIOS the SATA configuration to RAID/ATA, then start with the SP3 CD again, there is no problem.

So it seems the slipstremaed SP3 CD has some compatibility issue with my PC. Any clue?

I searched in MS, it says ox00000050 error may be because of RAM faults. But I don't think it's the case for me as the error doesn't occur if I change SATA setting or if I use the original SP2 CD.

Have you tried recreating your XP SP3 slipstreamed CD to include the SATA RAID drivers found for your system on Dell's Drivers & Downloads page? Maybe some of the files in SP3 overwrote the SATA RAID drivers from your XP SP2 CD.

Try downloading the SATA Intel Driver file, extract the files and place them a folder like C:\Temp. With nlite, choose to integrate drivers and point to C:\Temp for the SATA drivers. Select all of the drivers in the list nlite presents back.

You need to include Raid/AHCI driver in your "Slipstream". Intel

Or install them during windows install ,at F6 screen when it asks to install Raid drivers.

You can then reinstall windows with "Raid" on in Bios. The Raid driver must be installed during Windows

install. It is not a SP3 issue.
