DCOM

Hi

I'm seriously low tech, looking for an answer to a problem with my Blackberry Desktop Manager software.

The Blackberry disk works fine with my PC running XP, so I know it's OK. I have also successfully installed it on my laptop. However when I try to open the progamme on my 9400, running xp pro, I keep getting a message telling me I need to download DCOM98 v1.3 or later from microsoft.

I can't do the download - presumably as I'm not running '98 but I'd have thought whatever the required prog was it would be contained within the xp pro system.

I've looked in the ole section of the registry and DCON is set to Y, so I don't know what else to do.

 Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks

This is an operating system architecture type question, and a bit beyond me also.  However, you can look at this page, learn a bit about it, and if you still think you need it, there is a link to the DCOM98 v1.3 at the bottom of the page.  That link also notes that it is only for Windows 98, but I thought the page might still be helpful.

Edit:  The more I look at this, the more it appears to be a configuration problem.  Found these two items using a search engine:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825750 and http://j-integra.intrinsyc.com/support/com/doc/remoteaccess.html.  You might wish to contact support for your Blackberry device and see if they have a recommended approach for reconfiguring DCOM.
