Dell Movie Studio - Thumbprints Show up Solid Black for Generated .mpeg Movie Files

When I generate a new .mpeg Movie File using the Story Builder the thumbprint for the output file is just solid black.  It shows up this way from Windows Explorer and in my DVD menu when I burn the movie to DVD.  It didn't always do this because I have older burned DVDs that look okay, but now when I look at those older .mpeg files from Windows Explorer their thumbprints are solid black too.  I guess it's some kind of version compatibility issue but don't know where to begin to look to take care of it.  Any ideas?  Thanks!!
