Free vista 64 bit upgrade.

Hello, i heard you can get a free upgrade from 32bit vista home premium to 64 bit. How does one go about this?

Thanks!

Arcto,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You will need to contact tech support either by phone, chat or email and request the cd.

Thanks J but could you confirm that this disk exists and if it is free? The last time i rang Irish Dell Tech Support i was forwarded to a call center that had never heard of it.

I have been told however that IT DOES exist from other sources.

Thanks in advance,

Arcto,

I do no know if the 64 bit vista os option is available in Ireland.  I apologize for this misunderstanding. I thought you were here in the US.

at least for the usa, the dell tech ("hardware") support "chat" facility can be useful for this kind of thing:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/hardware_chat

1) verbal problems/confusion are minimized,

2) you get an email transcript of the session, which includes the email address of the tech support representative that answers/responds to your question.

in this case, your issue may not strictly be "hardware" support, but they might be able to refer you to the correct person.

good luck!
