How are you connected to the Net? Your hardware problem could be a defective modem or network card; the defect could show up only when there is extended downloading (as opposed to downloading a page from a site). The only other hardware involved in downloading is the disk (and its controller) to which you are downloading. But it appears to me that the message is quite clear; there is a hardware problem, somewhere.
i have basically the same problem, except that it happens not only when on the internet, but about two minutes after i get in windows. but it comes and goes. i have a latitude d600. this problem prevents me from turning on the computer itself. it is really strange. but at the moment things are working smoothly, so i recommend system restore. i tried it and it worked, for now. this happened about three weeks ago, and by some miricale i fixed it, but it happened again. i have a felling it will come back very shortly. help me if you can. i did so diagnostic tests and found these following errors: Error Code 0f00:0244 Block 29885792 and Error Code 0F00: 1A44 Block 29885792. i also sometimes get a blue screen with bad image checksum Stop: C0000221 for urlmon.dll. the another screen says memory parity failure 07070000 and 0707FFFF. then there is one with Channel Check/ IOCHK System Halted. if you can help me with my many problems i would be much obliged.
