How to manually restore windows vista with the dell recovery partition?

Hi,

I have a Inspiron 154 with Windows vista. It does not want to boot anymore. Instead it displays the dell recovery tools to diagnose the system. There is no way to launch the repair mode.

So I try to do a manual restore as explained on the post below.

Unfortunately I get stuck, you can see my problems on this thread.

I have a back-up of my data. I used a linux live CD to access my drive so my hard drive is not dead.

I do not have a windows CD.

I just want to restore the OS on my hard drive. Any suggestions :)?

many thanks

Hi Gatsu07

Do you have Dell data safe installed on your computer ?

If you do you can not use that link to make your computer work !

And you do have to use a Dell Vista DVD disk to make it work too.

If you have a readable COA on your system and can clearly make out the 25 digit product key (Usually found at the base of laptops or under the battery) and the top/side of desktops.

The please follow my guidelines for downloading and making a Retail Vista Reinstallation DVD here.

Once this is made follow the install procedure as I have wrote here.

If you do not have a readable COA you will need to contact Dell Support to request a Dell Windows Vista Reinstallation DVD.
