"We learned that the affected CPUs are the Core 2 Duo E4000/E6000, Core 2 Quad Q6600, Core 2 Xtreme X6800, XC6700 and XC6800. "

if you have any of these series processors, then yes, download and install the update.

Big thanks to Bobmitmen.  :smileyhappy:

"When you say E4000/E6000 does that mean all the ones that START with 4 or 6? "

That is my take on it.

Hi Mombodog,

When you say E4000/E6000 does that mean all the ones that START with 4 or 6?  I have a Dim E520 E6300.  I don't think I'm having any problems with it that I know of.  Should I stick with the theory of don't upgrade stuff if you're not having problems?

Thanks for the info,
Christine

Will this update ever show up in Microsoft Update?

Sometimes I do see "reliability updates" included in windows/microsoft updates, but only if Microsoft feels it is critical. If you use the "custom" button in XP to check for updates, you will see all available updates, not just the critical ones, listed on the left side.
