Java Keeps Freezing on a Brand New 8400

My java keeps freezing.  I cant play any games on pogo as it freezes and its limiting my ability to visit any java enabled sites; everytime i click on a link on cbssportsline or espn it freezes and I noticed it says SNR in the bottom left of the window if that means anything.  Javascript does work though and I can play games on yahoo, although when I try to exit out of the m it freezes and i have to do alt-cnt-delete. This is on a brand new 8400 which i hooked up yesterday, I even uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version.  I am running mcafee anti virus and firewall, i disabled both but still have the same problem.  Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?  I've seen other people have had a similar problem, did u ever get it fixed?

If safe mode gives you the same results I think you should try another web browser - just for testing purposes. Try install Firefox and see if java works fine. I think problem can be with browser, java engine or java games, not the operating system itself.

How about safe mode with networking? Is the result the same?

Ok what I did was uninstalled the sun java and just installed microsoft java vm and now my java works.  Is it ok to just use microsoft java vm?  I dont know why the sun version wont work in my IE.

MS Java is no longer supported and all java programs should be recompiled to sun's java. If it works fine - good for you.

owens81, it sounds like you have the problem resolved.. that is what i was going to recommend, installing the microsoft virtual machine.. you can elect to use either the sun java virtual machine or the ms virtual machine, but as you have learned, the ms virtual machine will work much better for you..

did you get the security patch for the microsoft virtual machine, at windows updates? it is important that you do, if you haven't already..

Try downloading the newest version of Sun's java, not the one that loads automatically from their update page. The auto one is 1.4 something. You want the new V5 (internal 1.5) which supposedly fixes a lot of issue in the 1.4 releases. I know the firefox plugin page has a direct link to the version you need.
