Microsoft patch Kb917425 incompatibility
In a Dell Optiplex GX620 running windows XP SP2 Spanish languaje, when I run the Kb917425 secutiry patch provided by Microsoft, I receive the error message saying that the patch is not intended for the selected OS version.
The same patch works fine in a similar machine (Dell optiplex GX620) which the Original OS was replaced by the normal microsoft version. I understand that Dell customizes the OSs, so, Do I have to replace the Original OS in all machines in order to apply such a patch?

According to this document, "This compatibility patch can only be installed on systems that are running the Internet Explorer April Cumulative Update (KB912812). If you try to install this patch on systems without update 912812, the installation will fail."
Dell does not customize XP so I suspect that the failure to install on your second machine is due to the situation described above.
