My Dell Downloads not working

I've recently replaced my hard drive and want to reinstall the factory installed software but My Dell Downloads won't work.  It won't register my system, it just keeps saying "Examining your computer please wait...." and nothing happens

Hi

had the same issue on my XPS 12. things I did:

in IE

Tools

Compatibility view settings

Add this site (dell.com)

that did not work so

Tools

Internet options

then I set security and privacy to lowest possible level

Then when i went back and clicked register it worked!

Don't forget to change them back

Unfortunately all the downloads showed was mcafee. No windows etc... all that effort for so little.

Good luck

Hi ellyij,

I would suggest you to open ‘My Dell Downloads’ through Internet Explorer browser only. If you are not able to proceed further during the system registration process then unblock the popup blocker in the browser.

Also, please consider resetting Internet Explorer using the link below and try registering.

Note: Please perform the above steps on a Dell system you are registering for.

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi Ravi,

I've already tried all the steps you mentioned.  Also I've opened IE in 32-bit as well as disabled my AV still nothing.

Any other suggestions?

Hi ellyij,

I’d advise that you update Microsoft .NET Framework and Java on your computer from the links below, then check if you are able to download files from ‘My Dell Downloads’.

I was having the same issue after upgrading to a new SSD in my Inspiron 17 7737.  The Dell Technician was able to resolve it by manually updating Adobe Flash for Internet Explorer.  After that, it registered just fine.  Hope this helps.
