NEED MEDIA FOR FACTORY RECOVERY FOR A DELL INSPIRON E1505

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used Dell Inspiron E1505 and this laptop has tons of viruses.  I need to get the CDs or what ever media it came with to do a factory restore.

Can some one please help me?

Thanks in advance.

If you're lucky, the PC restore function still works - you can give that a try:

To get any media from Dell, though, you need to be on record as the owner, meaning you have to transfer ownership.  I'm honestly not sure if the replacement policy applies to second owners, but it's worth a try -  if you ever need any other kind of help from Dell on that PC you'll need it anyway.   If you don't have the information needed to transfer ownership, then you'd need to find another source for the disk.   Dell reinstallation CD's are not PC-specific, but you do need one that's the same version originally installed.

If you can transfer ownership, then you can try ordering replacement disks here (if you're in the US).

If you don't have the reinstallation CDs I would recommend contacting the person you purchased it from to see if they have them.  If they don't you should be able to request them after you complete the Transfer of Ownership to get the system in your name in our records.
