No Sound on Dell Inspiron 1720

Problem after changing hard drive, reinstalling windows etc on Dell Inspiron 1720  -   No Sound

On start up I get the message:

Windows needs driver for your IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

I choose locate

Then get

Windows encountered a problem loading software for yur device

found driver software but encountered an error when atttempting rto install it.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

Checking the control Panel I find that there are no devices installed

Any help appreciated
