Problem with Dell Recovery Partition

Hi,

I have an inspiron 545 which came with windows 7. I had some bad ram which killed the operating system, so I had to do a clean reinstall from the windows cd.

I now want to do a recovery from the Dell Recovery Partition but the partition is not showing as an option after doing f8 - advanced boot utility - repair...- etc.

How do I make the partition visible again?

Cheers

Si

Hi free21, When you used the win cd to reinstall your OS, chances are you damaged or deleted the restore partition. Those partitions are factory made and cannot be downloaded or repaired after you have used an win cd to reinstall your OS.

The partition is still there. I just can't seem to access it.

If I boot from the windows dvd as if I were going to format the disk, it shows three partitions, one being the recovery partition, so I know it's still there.

You can try this:  Restoring Dell Factory Image from Recovery Environment.  Although Vista is specifically addressed, I'm pretty sure Dell uses the same process on machines delivered with Windows 7.
