Re-install hal.dll
I need to re-install the hal.dll file but how do I get to a DOS command? I can only go into setup or try to boot from the CD, which also generates errors. Is there a CTRL shortcut key to get to DOS?

Give this a try....
Assuming this is Windows XP, Press Escape. Go to the set-up options.
Enable the internal hard drive, Save and Exit.
Your computer will restart automatically and the DOS prompt will appear on the screen
Here is the proper command to replace the hal.dll from CD, be sure to include spaces.
expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll
(Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD.)
