Reinstall Windows XP

My Dell Dimension 8200 has a problem.
I have backed up my data.
I want to wipe the hard drive clean and reinstall windows XP home. I have the
    Dell Operating System
    Reisstallation CD
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

I am able to boot from CD. I attempted to run the CD and I got to the point where
the procedure listed two partitions,
   1 small FAT partition,
one large partition (NTFS or something like that)
I chose the large partition and I was warned that there was an operating
system already loaded on the partition. I would like to remove everything on the
hard drive, reformat the drive, and reinstall wirdows.
Are there any instructions for doing this?

This is a good place to start.

The first thing you should do is go to the following site and download, install, and runn Belarc advisor:

Print out the results of the system inventory so you will know exactly which devices are installed on your computer.  You will need this information later, when it comes time to install device drivers.

Next, go to the following site and download all of the drivers for the devices you identified using Belarc Advisor.

Copy these driver installation files to a CD-R so you will have them after you reintsall Windows.

Next, back up any data files you may have on the computer (music files, documents, emails, movie files, picture files, spreadsheets, etc.).

Next make sure you have all of the CDs to reinstall any software you will need to have available after the reinstallation.

Next go to the following site and follow the instructions for the reinstallation of Windows XP.
