Reinstalling McAfee

Question

I recently got an Inspiron E1705 laptop and it came with a 90 day trial version of McAfee Security package. I uninstalled it to put my Norton 2005 1yr package that I bought. However, I started encountering problems with the laptop's connectivity and it turns out it was related to the Norton package. I unintalled Norton and the laptops started working good again. Anyway, since I uninstalled McAfee before, is there any where I can get it back by being able to download the trial version somewhere so I can give it a try? Or am I out of luck and will just have to buy it at a store somewhere?         Message Edited by northview on 07-04-200606:48 PM

If you registered McAfee at their site, you can go there and download again it for free. It won't add time to the free trial but at least you'll have what's left of the 90 days.

Or just google around. I was able to buy VirusScan 2006 for $45 (Amazon.com) including 1 yr of updates and it came with rebates totalling $45, so free for 1 year.

McAfee bogs down your computer. I recommend AVG free edition (look it up in your browser).

AVG ---Good advice! I might add that you can also download  EWIDO ---an excellent scanner from Grisofts/AVG site. Free anti-virus and the free scanner are both on the same download page. jimmy
