Reinstalling Problem with "SM Bus Driver"
I had to reformat my drive and reinstall using the Dell cds. When I view my Device Manager there is a problem indicated in Other Devices - SM Bus Controller. I have tried to find out what this item is and a driver for it but have come across a brick wall. Anyone know how to fix the problem?

You need to install the chipset drivers for the motherboard. These should be on the Dell Resource CD.

thanks a million volcano11 for a usefull tip to trick the sm bus prob. Not a dell cust. myself, but I had an identical prob. on custom pc. Googled it and your reply was one of many links. Guess I was lucky. Now I know what todo in the future...and I can be the wiser, if someone else screams "SM bus error in device managing".
