Removing popups

Hey!

As the message subject say.. I wanna know how to remove these freakin' popups. Everytime I open a new window in Mozilla Firefox, a new add just pops up.. It's not the same add everytime, it tends to change. Which way is the easiest? I've been searching google for a while, but there are so many different programs out there. So I want a professional opinion.

Merry Christmas!

Alen

Click, Tools, Options, Content, then click the box "Block Pop-Up Windows".

Okey, I guess that my Norman Virus Control isn't so useful? But if you say so, I'll download those programs and do the scans.

I would also check for malware

Download and run these free programs and run the scan too

Spybot Search and Destroy
  http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
Update it before running

This is an excellent program
SUPERAntiSpyware       http://www.superantispyware.com/
Download the free version

An antivirus does not detect or stop a lot of malware.

You need to run programs like these regularly to clean up your system

You might get a surprise when you run them :smileyhappy:

The only thing the scans found was some cookies. Anyways, I went on dellcommunity.com and as I expected the popup came again. This time it was something from jamba.com or whatever.

Any other ideas?

You scanned with all 3 of the products that dunedin recommended? If these didn't find anything, then run a full scan with your AV program.

Do you get the pop-ups in Internet Explorer too?

I'm not sure that there are popups in IE. Haven't really been using it for a while. I'm what you call a firefox kinda guy.. I'll test it and answer you as soon as I can.

Nevermind the stuff above, I can now confirm that there are popups in IE too.

Try running "Shoot The Messenger" and see if that helps

Note
Windows Messenger Service
The first thing to understand is that the Windows Messenger Service is completely different from, and not in any way related to, "MSN Messenger", "Windows Messenger", or any other well-known instant messaging system. Therefore, disabling the Windows Messenger service will have no effect upon your use of any other instant messaging applications. They will continue to work without trouble.
