Roxio Easy CD Creator
My Laptop came with this software installed and work quite well for a while. But now when I try to burn data I get the message below.
Steps I follow after starting Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3.4 SP8 Basic:
1. Click - Make a CD
2. Choose Data CD Product
3. Drag files from top window (hard drive) to bottom window which will become the CD.
4. Hit the Burn or Record Button.
5. This message appears on my screen
' This Drive is used by another application "Roxio DirectCD Kernel". Easy CD Creator cannot use it until the application has completed.'
What application is Roxio DirectCD Kernel and how do you stop it?

Hi:
The following link is to Predator's CD/RW website, and may be of some assistance with that message:
http://www.the-predator.com/dell/ecd7.html#46-0-3
Edit: If the problem is not due to trying to use formatted disks, it could be that Direct CD is running in the
background. Try opening Task Manager, and if Direct CD is running, terminate it before attempting to burn
with Easy CD.

Direct CD is Roxio's "UDF" formatting program so you can use "drag and drop" from the Windows explorer to copy files to a CD.
Apparently Direct CD is configured to automatically launch when you insert a blank CD. I don't have the older Direct CD installed anymore so I can't say exactly how to configure it, if it even needs configuration. When you load a blank CD in the drive, check to see if Direct CD comes up, if it does, exit direct cd before proceeding with the Data CD project. Another option, do not load the blank CD until after you have launched the Data CD buring program, that may lock out Direct CD.
