Roxio videowave

I have Dimension 8250, Pentium 4, CPU 3.06 GHz, 1.50GB RAM.
My question is about Roxie VideoMovie creator, how to burn some movies on DVD. I have DVD+RW and I try to burn DVD but only I have sucess with burning on CD-R which I can't play on any other DVD, only on computer and that was done with another program which is MyDVD.
Here is problem, When I open Roxio VidoWave movie creator and if you go to Video CD/DVD maker and open tools and go to option and then to DVD/CD setting where is disc sizes and calculating space usage you have two option CD capacity and DVD capacity. This DVD capacity 4.7GB is in a gray and I cannot choose, so my question is why not?
I saw on Roxio that my dvd+rw driver is compatible with movie creator and that I supposed to have that option to choose. So how to solve this?

Do you have the patch installed? If not or you aren't sure you can check your version against the updated patch version. To check on this go to the Downloads at the top of the Dell Site and type in your service tag, operating system and check the update for Roxio Videowave.

Hi,

I have VideoWave 1,6,676.0 which is up-to-date. Does VideoWave have anything to do with easy CD Crator 5 Basic(v. 5.1.0.0000) or not?

Do you have any other solution?

Thank you for your help.

Both are Roxio products. I updated to Easy Cd and DVD Creator 6 and Video Wave is now part of the EasyCD and DVD program. You appear to have the updated version of Video Wave.

If I have update VideoWave why I have problem which I described previously? I also spoke with DELL technician and they recommend to re-install Roxio VideoWave which I did but still I can't burn on DVD (example if I want to put some movie 90minutes long is says that I don't have enough space, but DVD disc have space up to 120minutes). This is probably because I don't have this option DVD capacity (4.7GB), only CD capacity (VideoWave software). Still my question is the same, how to solve this?

A DVD movie in High Quality will only allow about 80 minutes for a DVD.

I do not have Video Wave so I do not know if they allow degrading quality to increase the time you can fit on a DVD…

Have you tried placing DVD media into the drive before starting the project?

I have the same problem.

I think that videowave should be converting .avi files to mpeg-2 before buring the DVD. That way we should be able to get the 120 min. Unfortunately videowave is burning the avi files to the disk. I have a post on the roxio support site so will fill you all in if I get an answer to this problem. Right now the only solution I can think of is to save every file as an mpeg-2 before trying to burn the DVD.

Hi,

Try to see if your dvd drive is compatable with Roxio, my drive is NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A and it is compatable but still I have THE problem. Sometimes helps if you update dvd driver, but I did everything and I'm still stuck with same issue.

If you purchase Dell probably you have another software for burning movies like MyDVD Sonic. With this software you could easy burn movies, is simple but quality is sometimes not good like with VideoMovie creator.

Anyway, I'm still searching for answer to above problem (why is DVD capacity in grey), so if I found answer I will post it.
