Show Desktop Icon

Concerning XP Home SP1a:

I have an original Show Desktop icon on my desktop and a short cut to the same icon in the quick launch bar. I believe the original belongs in the quick launch bar and not on the desktop?

How do I straighten this out........Thanks

In your previous post you were told where to locate the Quick Launch folder.(C:\Document and Settings\"username"\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer)  so right-click on the desktop icon+cut then navigate to the Quick Launch folder and paste it there. You can delete the shortcut that's in the quick launch toolbar.

Both icons are shortcuts. Neither is the "original." Leave it in the Quick Launch bar, since that's where it belongs. You cannot access it on the desktop when windows are open, which is the reason you have a "Show Desktop" button. You can always drag any shortcut to the Quick Launch bar to add the programs you use most. Just look for a black bar to appear after dragging with a right or left click.

One was a shortcut the other is a Windows Explorer Command.
