Unable to complete Disk Check.
I ran Disk Check, it ran for a few minutes then I got the message "Windows was unable to
complete disk check."
Early I had lost power while Windows was shutting down. After the next boot I got a disk error popup.
That's when I tried to run Check Disk.
Everything seems to be ok in Windows except I was using Mozilla Firefox and now I have lost the preference file, bookmarks, etc.

About the same thing in Safe Mode.
It runs Phase 1 of disk check and shows 100 % complete of phase 2 but then I get the same message "Windows was unable to complete the disk check".

Reboot and press F12. Go to Utilities partition and run extended hard drive tests. Note any error messages.
Then boot from XP CD and start Recovery Console.
At c: prompt, type in:
chkdsk c: /p /rPress Enter
Now take a nap !
When it's done, remove XP CD and reboot normally, and back up files on CDs asap, just in case... ;)

Thanks
Reboot and press F12..... that took me to the Boot menu. Didn't see anything about Utilities partition, or where
to run extended hard drive tests?

Update:
I was able to run chkdsk in DOS. All's well now.
