Vostro 1540 RAM upgrade

Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my Vostro 1540  RAM 2GB laptop with: 4GB DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM 1600 MHZ (PC3-12800)

Unfortunately it does not work... the screen of my laptop scrambles into unusual pattern and showing message and purchased 4GB RAM image also attaching.

Can someone please tell me what do I have to do to use my new RAM modules?

Thank you!

RE: Vostro 1540 RAM upgrade

srijesus2428,

You will need to get ram that meets the specifications below. You cannot mix different memory.

Memory module connector Two internally-accessible DDR3 SODIMM sockets
Memory module capacities 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capable
Memory type Vostro™ 1540 / 1550: 1333 MHz SODIMM DDR3 Vostro™ 2520: 1333 MHz / 1600 MHz SODIMM DDR3
Minimum memory 2GB
Maximum memory 8GB

Memory Configuration

Vostro™ 1440, 1450, 1540, 1550, 2420 and 2520 have two user-accessible SODIMM sockets, both slots can be accessed after removing the base cover. Basically, when both DIMM connectors are populated, the system has optimum dual-channel performance unless channels A and B have different amounts of memory.

RE: Vostro 1540 RAM upgrade

Hi Jesse,

I have the same problem with RAM modules in my laptop VOSTRO 1540... I have two 4GB RAM DRR3 1333 modules and my laptop displays the blue screen.

What´s the correct specification for my laptop's RAM modules including voltage?
