Will my Dell product ID for windows work if I reinstall windows with a repair disk?

Just want to make sure, because Microsoft wont allow OEM product keys to download the Windows image from their page.

But if I find the install/repair disc, I won't have problems with my product ID and the fresh install of windows, right?

Thanks.

Which version of windows you're trying to reinstall on your system ? And what is your Dell system model ?

Example: Dell Inspiron 3048, windows 10

Oh, sorry I didn't mention my general info! I'm on a Dell vostro 3550, Windows 7.

It's supposed to be restored using dell backup and recovery software, but when I try to restore it the factory image, it just does nothing, not even restart the laptop.  I also tried pressing F8 during boot and selecting to repair my pc, but it asks for a repair CD that I don't have because my model isn't supposed to need it. I've read that the recovery partition can become corrupted or dell backup and recovery software can lose its link to the recovery partition if I updated windows, which I did to Windows 10 but had to rollback because it doesn't support my network adapter.

Do I need a disc to restore my pc to the factory image? And that doesn't  works for me, I just want to know if my product ID will work with a fresh install of Windows 7.

Your model isn't suppose to need it?  Really?

What you want is a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD (for this model likely Windows 7 Professional). These apply Dell OEM SLP activation and will automatically activate with an eligible Dell BIOS. For that model you may be better to convert the Bootable USB to a GPT Bootable USB 3.0 flash drive for a UEFI BIOS:

Unfortunately the best place to find a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD is on eBay.

However you may want to try a clean install of Windows 10 TH2. It may work better than your previous upgrade install.

Thanks! That's a useful answer. Thanks a lot. I'll Google if my network adapter is supported in that new version of Windows 10, because there is a list of unsupported devices by a Microsoft on Windows 10,and unfortunately my adapter is listed there... Maybe it changed with that new version.

Something strange is that if I just upgrade and keep all my files, my network adapter works on Windows 10, but if I use the option of a fresh install, the adapter wont work. I tried to install drivers for other versions of Windows but they don't work for me.

Dell have Windows 10 Drivers for this system here:

The Broadcom (Dell Wireless 1704/1708) are reported to be more problematic under Windows 10 however. It seems the recommendation is to use the inbuilt Windows 10 driver for these wireless cards opposed to the Dell driver:

Also make sure your UEFI BIOS is up to date. Enable UEFI and SecureBoot for best results.

Your should have BIOS revision A12:

Although Intel state they don't support the wireless adapter for Windows 10...

It should work fine with the inbuilt driver or the Windows 8.1 driver. I have got the 4965 to work with Windows 10 and its one of the oldest on the list that's not supported.

Thanks, sorry for not answering in these days. I'm downloading the BIOS rev A12 now from your link. I will try again to update and use it with the inbuilt driver, because I tried to install the Windows 8 driver and it wouldn't let me install it because it detects I'm not on windows 8, and aborts the install.
