Windows 7 Reinstall Disc

As with many Dell computers my Studio 1558 laptop didn't come with a installation disc for Windows 7. Now I need to reinstall WIndows 7 and so need to get a disc from Dell. Seems simple enough as its free and there's a form on the website - except the link to the form on the U.K. website is broken, coming up with the message 500 - Server Processing Error.

If your PC came with Windows 7, F8 at power on will access the Dell PC Restore and allow you to reinstall back to the original factory image.

We are not Dell employees on here, just users helping users.  We can't help with a "broken link".

You can download the Windows 7 ISO from Digital River. You'll have to download the proper drivers from the Dell web site.

You can only obtain a "proper" installation disk by ordering a replacement disk from Dell or buying one on eBay.  Nearly all OEM's are moving away from including the installation DVD in favor of a "recovery partition", including a way to create "recovery media".

As an alternative, you can use a Retail disk to perform repair functions and/or reinstall:

I dont want to install to the original state I want the PROPER windows DVD with the PROPER microsoft tools.

Teh sales rep lied to me, but I have only found out now I am in trouble. I asked for the install disk and he told me that I didn't need it, that on first boot up I could create a windows installation USB key instead.

He lied. I created the Usb as instructed, and now the machine is out of guarantee and has had a problem on boot up.The boot screen asks me to insert my windows installation disk and choose "repair install", a programme that checks the windows files and restore any that are missing or corrupted, sorting out the boot problem.

So I got out the usb only to find it does NOT contain the installation media, it contains Dell's own "Dell Datasafe Backup" program, that will restore my computer to the stae in which it arrived, before I spent days installing and configuring all my software.  - not what I want at all.

How do I get hold of the PROPER windows 7 disk, as produced by Microsoft with teh PROPER tools on it, not Dell's half-baked backup/ resotre programme?
