Windows 7 -- System Freezes up

For no reason the system will freeze up requiring a complete shut down and reboot. It does not matter if a program is running or not.

Pressing Ctrl, Alt -Del does not invoke the Task Manager. It's just frozen.

Any ideas why?

If you do have Windows 7 installed your system is corrupt. I am afraid you will have to re-install Windows 7. This is based upon information you provided:

Version  6.0,6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002.

This says you have Vista installed with service pack 2. It would read Version 6.1.7600 for Windows 7, or all my Windows 7 units do.
