marglo78, perhaps a little more information is needed. Can you boot into safe mode? You can also restore back to when the computer was new by pressing CTRL-F11. You will loose all information that you put on the computer since then. I would only do this as a last resort.
Write back with more info before doing anything.
Thank you for posting! I haven't tried it yet, but I have the same model as the author, and since my warranty has expired (thus Dell shuns me unless I pay...) I'm very excited to have an answer!
