factory.wim corrupted, missing dell folder on recovery partition--need help

Hi,

I have dell inspiron 1720 and planning to do factory pcrestore, however factory.wim on recovery partition is corrupted along with other files..... is there any way to repair factory.wim and recovery partition or create new factory.wim for pcrestore..... i tried to go to system recovery options using windows vista dvd, i was unable to initiate dell factory restore(cause its corrupted).......

could i use third party software to create factory.wim ?

any suggestions are welcome..

Hi ritu143, These recovery partitions are made in the factory, once they are damaged, there is no way of creating a new one. The only option left open is to use a DVD/CD disc. If you haven't got one, and live in the US, then you can order a Vista disc online HERE.
