http 500 internal server error

There are 2 users on a Dem 2400 runniing XP using Earthlink Total Access. Main user now gets "internal server error" when going to what appears to be any secure sight ie:hotmail, my acct(earthlink).Have checked "ssl" . Earthlink suggests a Dell problem. I question that. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Very unlikely a Dell (hardware) problem, perhaps a Microsoft-related software one. That error generally results from a misconfigured Web server, but may be triggered by spyware/malware installed into the Microsoft Internet Explorer.

I'd suggest starting by checking the machine for spyware/malware as described in the first link listed below. Also be sure your anti-virus definitions are up to date, and that you've installed all critical fixes available from Microsoft Windows Update.
