skype software slowing down explorer
i just bought my daughter a new studio laptop, there is a lot of lag time while typing and windows internet explorer freezes, works again, freezes for a while. Very frustrating as dell will not help unless i pay fot software support. The only program we downloaded was skype. But....we were having lag problems even before downloading skype.

Welcome to Dell Community Forum.
Have read about similar issues with IE, but haven't experienced it, yet.
I also use Skype but, haven't had any slow downs. You might try uninstalling Skype then installing it again.
Try another internet browser, google chrome and firefox are both popular. These will run faster and if they freeze also, you'll know it's not IE's fault.
Check your internet connection, try : Speed Test
