windows XP Media 2005
I bought my Dell computer last fall. My reinstalation DVD says Microsoft Windows XP Media Center edition 2005 with update rollup 2"
But when I look on my computer (and when I re install in DVD) I have Microsoft Winows XP Media Center edition 2002 with service pack 2..
The problem is I can NOT open a DVD written with Windows XP Media edtion 2005 as the 2002 version does not have 'Roxio" the method 205 media uses to write DVD's..
I think the DVD Dell sent me is mislabled..

I bought my mother a Dell 'just like mine' about 2 months after mine.. Hers has Windows XP Media 2005 installed on it, as 'standard equipment' and thats where the problem started. She recored a dvd, and I can not open it...
I just think when a DVD from Dell says Windows XP Media 2005 , it should be 2005, not 2002.

joe...
That's what the link said... :smileyhappy:
Original Poster... Media Center 2002 with Service Pack 2 IS MCE 2005.... Microsoft just had a funky naming thing going.... The Service Pack is what ups it to 2005....
Sounds like Dell conpounded the confusion y calling the Disk MCE 2005 with update rollup 2...
Read the link and follow the directions to check.... You are not the only one to be confused about this....
