Installing Windows Companion
Installing Windows Companion
I can't install Windows Companion on my PC.
It stops installing half way through, then I get the error "Verifiy that you have sufficient privileges to start system services".
Since I am installing as Administrator with all privileges, I'm not sure what else to fo.
I have tried installing with/without firewalls - with no success.
Please help.

What version of Windows are you running?
Are you on a domain?
Can you double check that you have Admin access by following these steps:
1) Go to run
2) Type "compmgmt.msc" and press Enter
3) Select Local Users and Groups > Users
4) Right click on your account name and select Properties
5) Click the "Member Of" tab
6) Verify that the "Administrators" group is listed

Thanks Chris - all is as you describe - still stops with error 1920.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

1. Can you try installing the latest companion v2.1.5?
2. What OS you are installing the companion?
3. Can you right click on the installer and "Run as Administrator"

Try disabling your anti-virus software and then re-run the installer.

Also, try rejoining the domain if that does not work.

Tried all three to no avail.
I would supply screenshots of the error, but there doesn't seem to be a way to post.
When trying to start the service during install, I get a box headed "Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger" with the message:
"An unhandled exception ("System.Security.SecurityException") occurred in PocketCloudService.exe [3476]." etc, etc, etc.
When trying to start from Services, I get:
"The Wyse PocketCloud service could not be started.
The service did not report an error."
I would be glad to supply the installed log if there was a way to upload it.
