Assuming that your clients do not have the ability to communicate with your WMS server once deployed yo do have a few options:

  1. The devices will certainly cache their configuration once they retrieve it, and will work without being able to communicate with their management server, but that leaves you in a bit of a rough spot if you need to change/adjust/troubleshoot anything once deployed.
  2. If you are using the free version of WMS, you can configure it to be accessed externally through your firewall by port forwarding port 443 and 1883 to it and have your clients use the external URL assigned to your server.
  3. If you are using the paid version of WMS, use the public cloud version of WMS and then your clients can access it anywhere.

I would recommend you move to using Wyse Management Suite to set policies on your devices.  ThinOS 9 will no longer support INI files, and policies in WMS are much easier.

If you still use the INI files check out Confgen to find the proper syntax you should be using.

Thank you for the info:  one quick question though if the Thin Clients are not connected to the Wyse Management Network will they still hold the information that was original pushed to them.  The reason is the Thin Clients are sent around the country for training (Plug and Play) so we utilize our host network the only thing we verify is that they can reach our URL for the Horizon portal.  Thanks again.
