SETTING UP XP Embedded with a VX0 WYSE THIN CLIENT

SETTING UP XP Embedded with a VX0 WYSE THIN CLIENT

I would appreciate it if you could lead me in the right direction.

I am actually a wireless engineer but was asked by a school that teaches 6 – 12 year olds how to read. I am based in south Africa. I need to get rid of the Ubuntu operating system on a server and thin clients and put on a windows platform so that the school can teach reading on the computers. (their software works on windows).

So far I have followed this article (blog.augustoalvarez.com.ar/2009/01/07/preparing-and-installing-windows-xp-embedded-images-part-i-setting-up-the-environment) and everything is working fine until I try to load the XPe image on the WYSE thin client. When I do this from a USB flash stick I keep getting blue screens. I tried from a usb hard drive and when it boots the grub loader says it’s an unknown file system, no matter if I am using NTFS or Fat32.

The model of the wyse client is VX0 (see image attached).
Can this model even run XP embedded?

Am I doing the right thing?

Thanks in advance,

BR,
Zenon

It all depends on the amount of flash on the units and the actual model/product ID. If the Product ID is V10, V30 or V50, you cannot. If on the other hand the model is V90 than you can. In order to image these devices you will nee to use the Wyse Simple Imager and the imafe file for the device. Both of these files and instructions are available at www.wyse.com/downloads under the "Inactive" area.
Please note that these devices are EOL and no longer supported by Wyse.

Thanks for the information RMontalvo. Judging from that photo of the device above, can you tell me what model this is as it's not one that you mentioned and although I do see it listed in some other sites I don't see the images for it on the wyse site. (or what images it can use).

Thanks

The picture says you have a V00L which does not have any local storage, as this device was designed for streaming applications and did not include an operating system. For details on this device, go to http://www.arcy.com/90213101l-wyse-v...021310100.html
