Enabling UDP RTP Audio XenDesktop 5.5 Feature on Xenith

Enabling UDP RTP Audio XenDesktop 5.5 Feature on Xenith

Would appreciate if anybody can provide what's required to properly enable Citrix HDX UDP audio on the Wyse Xenith.

My client has Wyse Xenith with firmware version 7.1_122 and XenDesktop v5.5. They are in a small remote office with 5 users, connected to head office over a VPN with approx 7Mbps bandwidth.

I am trying to achieve the best possible audio quality from the IP telephony app installed on the desktop (Microsoft Lync), using Plantronics USB headsets.

So far I have done the following:

On the Citrix Server:
Enabled the Allow UDP over RDP Citrix Policy
Set the audio quality to 'medium - Optimised for speech' through Citrix Policy

In xen.ini have added:

SessionConfig=ICA AudioQuality=Medium

I'm unsure if I should be enabling HDX USB redirection (vusb_audio=yes) which results in the Plantronics showing up as a device in the Windows control panel, or leave this alone and stick with Citrix HDX audio as the default?

If anyone has been successful with this and can share any experiences it would be appreciated, as so far results are not consistent and i'm not seeing much sound improvement over using the default Citrix and Wyse settings.

Many thanks
