Dell XPS 8700 RAM upgrade or addition?

Hi: I want to upgrade my Dell XPS 8700 from 16GB of RAM to 32 GB of RAM.

Can anyone tell me if the following Kingston RAM will work. Thank You.

Kingston 32GB (4x8GB) DIMM PC3-12800 DDR3 Desktop Memory (KTD-XPS730C/8G)

I note that my RAM is non ECC and this says it is ECC. Not sure this is important but dont want to buy something that will not work.

 Thank You,

Joe

computer_newbie,

Below are the memory specs for the xps 8700. The speed of the one you selected does not match the specs for the system memory.

Dell - XPS™ 8700 - Specifications

Type DDR3 and DDR3L (1.5 V) Memory (Non-ECC only) 1600 MHz
Memory connectors Four
Memory capacities 4 GB and 8 GB
Minimum memory 4 GB
Maximum memory 32 GB

Dell - XPS™ 8700 - Memory

XPS™ 8700 has 4x 240-Pin DDR3L/DDR3 SDRAM slots which support Dual Channel DDR3L SDRAM up to 1600 MHz. The XPS™ 8700 supports up to a maximum of 32 GB system memory. If the customer is installing DDR3L, it should be DDR3L (1.5 V) only.

Thank you. I located the following RAM on sale. The issue appears to be the latency. The latency on my existing is CL11-11-11-28. The following has a latency of 9. Will these work. Thank You Again for your advice.

CL9 DDR3 Memory HX316C9SRK4/32 240PIN UDIMM

I would like to report a successful RAM upgrade I just performed on my XPS 8700 desktop today.

The original memory was 8Gb, as 2x 4Gb DDR3 PC3-12800 CL-11 from Samsung running at 1.5V

I added today another 16Gb, as 2x 8Gb DDR3L PC3_12800 CL-11 from Crucial running at 1.35V

Very interesting: different brands, different voltages, working well ...

Jesse - Can you take a quick peek at my tech specs and see that mine will be compatible?  I have the Dell XPS 8700 as well!  I edit photos and videos using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.  It is getting so needle-poking-me-in-the-eye painfully slow that I am hoping moving from 16 gb of RAM up to 32 gb of RAM will help.  Here is what I am looking at:  (*of specific note - can you verify its compatible based the particular specification listed below:  Compatibility:  Intel Z68,Intel Z77)
