Which Cables to Connect Internal Slimline Blu Ray Drive (Dell XPS 8910)

Hi Everyone,

Recently upgraded my power supply to an EVGA 650 P2, and I was able to reconnect everything but my Blu Ray drive (HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N). I think I need I need a 15 Pin SATA power cable and a 7 Pin SATA data cable, but I'm not sure about the exact type and I was hoping to get some advice so I don't buy the wrong cables. Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

You will need a standard SATA III data cable and a 6 pin Slimline SATA 15 pin SATA power cable like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pin-Slimline-SATA-Power-Cable/dp/B0056OA8ZW

You should have the data cable if your XPS 8910 came with a CD/DVD drive. The power supply cable is needed because the original Dell power supply has a 6 pin Slimline power connector.

The sata cable is standard.  The power cable is 15 pin sata to 6 pin sata power.

You will have to figure out the caddy and the faceplate if you do not already have an optional optical drive.

The mounting,  caddy, screws, and cables will not be there if it did not come with a drive.

Easier solution that works fine is USB2 blue ray drive that sits on top.

USB2 is desired over USB3 because of the communcation issues while installing OEM System builder DVD VIA SECURE BOOT OFF F12 USB BOOT.

This solution also includes cyberlogic power dvd for the same cost as buying the software stand alone.

I am a little confused. The EVGA PSU comes with 3 SATA power cables with multiple connections on each cable. As for the SATA data cable, that is pretty standard and any PC shop would carry them. The type is like this one.

Thanks all! I think I'm all settled; think I still have the data cable that came installed with my drive, but I'll definitely need the adapter a few people linked to.

Thanks again!
