The  Dell XPS 8300 supports up to 32 GB of DIMM DDR3-1333/1600 RAM. So that would be 4 X 8 GB modules.

Will this work: RAM 32GB Kit (4x8GB) DDR3 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DIMM - Desktop Computer Memory - CL9 2Rx8 1.5V 240-Pin UDIMM Non-ECC Unbuffered Upgrade Modules. I found on Amazon.

thanks so much brought the items and cards 4X8=32Gb works like a charm. The XPS8300 is  11 years old  but is fast and efficient Dell Computer Desktop the best. I have an XPS 8900 and a new Dell laptop too.

Never had 2x8. Computer originally, came with 6GD 2x2GB and 2x1Gb. Upgraded to 16Gb 4x4. Want 32Gb 4x8...now. Thanks

@thadoctur  Why would you buy 4x8GB? Don't you already have some RAM in this PC?

If you have 2x8 now, why not just get a matched pair of 2x8 of compatible RAM?

Buying more memory for a 10 year old model is not practical. 16 GB should be plenty for such an old model that cannot run Windows 11. It's not on the approved upgrade list.

8x4 is not a compatible setup. See- Solved: XPS 8300, memory modules for upgrade - Dell Community

@JOcean

I tend to buy expensive ram that can be used later.

I agree with you completely. Interesting story, I had an MSI MB and had high quality Corsair RAM in it with a Ryzen CPU. The system would not post. I replaced the RAM with high quality G. Skill RAM and it posted fine. That was when I learned that with Ryzen processors, somewhat more so than Intel, the QVL on a manufacturer's support pages was my friend.
