I looked on Amazon and found a different card for an even better price.

"Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5-2GL Low Profile 2GB"

Any reason why this could wouldn't work?

Should work fine.

Re: XPS 8500, video card upgrade questions

Hello, I would like to jump in on the OP, I have XPS 8500, and want to use a dell U4919DW monitor 5120x1440.

I saw a recommendation that the GeForce GTX 1050 would support that monitor, can anyone confirm, Thanks!

(would i need 2gb or 4gb?, i don't use for gaming just office work)

Re: XPS 8500, video card upgrade questions

GT1030  or GT1050TI

5k requires quadro P2000 and display port 1.4

Due to legacy platform HDMI 1.4 HW
bandwidth limitation, it can only support 5120
x 1440 @ 30Hz.

Re: XPS 8500, video card upgrade questions

thanks very much for the fast response.

GT 1030 shows:

Max Resolution Details
DVI 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz / HDMI 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz
GT1050TI shows
Multiple display connections

1 x DisplayPort 1.4 (4k resolution).

1 x HDMI 2.0b (1080p HD Video).

1 x DL-DVI-D (2560 x 1600 Resolution)

just so that I understand, is the $400 quadro P2000 the least expensive card that i can get for my 8500. If so would i be better off getting a new desktop?

this is not for gaming

Re: XPS 8500, video card upgrade questions

Is the XPS 8500 compatible with a GTX 1660 TI. I know it would need a pin cable connector... but aside from that?

Thanx in advance
