XPS 8700 will not wake up with new Dell U2518D

My PC will not wake up with the new Dell U2518D. Suggestions to fix?

System:
Dell XPS 8700, BIOS A14, 5/30/2019
Bios mode: UEFI
Video card: GeForce GT 635
Display: Dell U2518D
Connection: HDMI cable

When I have the system configured to blank the display when not used for a certain amount of time, the PC will not wake up, despite hitting any key(s), mouse movement or clicks, or power cycling the display.

The only way to bring it back is to power cycle the PC. VERY annoying.

I have tried a gazillion things and cant seem to make it behave. PC worked fine with an older Dell monitor connected via the DVI cable.

Any help really appreciated. I am about ready to throw it out the window.

Thanks
J

Try a brief press of the computer power button since Hibernation can look like this and requires that to wake it. Change that setting in Power Options, Advanced power settings, your power plan.

Hibernation kicks in automatically after a long time in Sleep or no activity. It looks like it is rebooting but all open files and programs will still be there. It takes a few seconds longer but not as long as rebooting.

Version of Windows?

In addition to Mary's suggestions, you may also need to disable Hybrid Sleep and PCI Express Link State Management on the advanced options screen for your active power plan.

Or if the new monitor supports DVI or DP, try them instead of HDMI.
