Amber flashing light, How to turn off?

I have had issues surrounding the battery for about a year now. Essentially the battery hasn't worked and I have to have my laptop plugged in. The battery always said it had a charge, but never worked.

This morning my laptop says it can't communicate with the battery which causes an annoying amber flashing light. I have given up hope of having a working battery but the amber light is really annoying now. Is there a way I can disable this light?

Regards,

Tom

Could you please post the model number of your system?

Assuming the light is due to the battery then no. That light is a diagnostic light and will continue to flash until the problem it detects is resolved.

However you could try resetting the system. Disconnect the battery and unplug the adapter. Then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Now reconnect everything and try again.

Also restart the system and at the Dell splash screen (assuming the system will POST), start tapping F12. Run full system diagnostics paying attention to the battery and adapter.
