Charger alternatives for XPS 13 2 in 1

I've searched the web and it seems the only way to charge proper is with the OEM 30 watt ac adapter? Is that true? I was hoping using a 12v power socket in the truck or rv work work.

thanks.. I've got two built in ac terminals in my F350.. I guess I should get an extra 30 watt Dell ac adapter and charge it the right way. I have a DC one for my E6530 that works great. Maybe Dell makes one for the 13 XPS?
