DELL XPS 9560 TPM not available

Hello, I think my TPM chip of my XPS 9560 is broken, cause it is not more available in the bios. I noticed something was wrong, after i had to enter my Bitlocker key everytime I started Windows 10 1903. After a format and a reinstall of my OS, i cannot enable bitlocker anymore and get the warning: "This device can't use a Trusted Platform Module. Your administrator must set the "Allow Bitlocker without a compatible TPM" option in the "Require additional authentication at startup" policy of OS volumes". I never had this warning before. I also noticed that the TPM option is no more availeble in my BIOS under "Security". The strange thing is, that this suddenly disappeared. I did not had a bios update or somithing. I tried to fixed it, by updating my bios from 1.15 to 1.16. But now during booting of my Laptop, i get a alert with: "Alert! TPM device is not detected". So to get rid of the warning I downgrade the bios back to 1.15. But still the TPM is not availeble. Does this mean my TPM chip is broken, or is Dell aware of this problem? If my TPM chip is broken, can the alert be disabled?

I have installed the bios version 1.18.

It solved the issue on my XPS 9560.

So thank you Dell.

Installed 1.18 on my XPS 9560 and I still have the same problem no TPM detected.

But as my laptop is just over a year old Dell refuse to help me in any way whatsoever, this is appalling customer service!

I've got a 9370, and I see that Dell has just released BIOS ver. 1.12.1. The description says it addresses two items related to the TPM. The BIOS also addresses some security issues identified by Intel, but after reading this thread I'm reluctant to upgrade. Everything is working fine now.

the issue still takes place on my XPS 9560. I have upgraded BIOS v.1.18.0

When the device is starting I see the message TMP device not found.

Yep! I have the same Dell XPS model 9560 and I've had this error ever since BIOS v.1.16.0

It's driving me nuts!

unfortunately, only 1.15.0 and earlier don't have the issue. you can downgrade to that to get rid of the alert.

i've been interacting with dell who said they were 'escalating' the case, but nothing happened, and now they tell me to talk to the warranty department.

Did you or anyone find a solution.  Only BIOS version 1.15 or earlier works.......

Same issue..... any news on this?

Yes the problem was resolved by Dell replacing my motherboard on my 9560 XPS.  I now have the most current BIOS, no errors when booting and the TPM feature is visible, which was hidden before replacement.

Yikes.  My TPM reappears if I roll back to 1.15.

@Anonymous  I just came to find out I have the same problem with my Latitude 7250- missing TPM device error with my BIOS 1.6 not being able to boot my windows as everyone  else here.

Lost few hours figuring out how to downgrade my BIOS. I found such options from the boot menu called BIOS flash update.

Now I'm with bios revision 1.11.1, having butlocker asking for a key I dont' know about, still not being able to boot windows.

To be continued...

I have recently upgraded BIOS to 2.13.0 and receiving the same error messages. I too am out of warranty and the switch off without power cable & wait is not working (I had slim hopes). I don't have any TPM related menu items.

I'm also sure I had bitlocker options on win10 home version when I received the laptop but notice it's not here any more - but I notice that prior to the bios upgrade and suspect that went after a windows update a while back.

Any ways to get rid of the error message? @Anonymous ?

I have the same issue. My XPS 9560 is now out of warranty and bios v1.18 reports "No TPM device detected" . I do not use TPM and the most irritating aspect of this is that the error interrupts the boot sequence and I cannot disable it. Clicking on continue after every restart is an annoying reminder of this fault.

It should be straightforward for Dell to add a feature in the bios which allows the  TPM check to be disabled during boot. Why are they ignoring their customers?
