Dell XPS 15 (9530) battery charging is temporarily disabled

Hello there,

In the past 48 hours, that error msg began to appear when I start my laptop Dell XPS 15 (9530): battery charging is temporarily disabled and the laptop shuts down whenever I remove the charger from it.

Now I have got the latest bios update. I use Windows 10 and it is also updated.

I used diagnostics to see if there is something wrong in the battery or charge and the results were as you see in the screen capture as you see.

This is what is written on the Bios page concerning the battery.

I know the Dell XPS 15 (9530) model is a bit old but it has been working fine now.

Can you please help me and tell me what I should do ?

Thank you for your message.

Have you observed any thermal issues with the notebook lately?

Turn off the computer, disconnect the power cord & remove the battery by following the manual on this link (page 16), press & hold down the power button for 30 seconds to release the residual power.

Connect the battery & charger back in start the notebook & check the battery & AC adapter status in BIOS.

If the issue persists, the battery will need to be replaced.
