Dell XPS ONE 2720 HELP - HDD not detected after switching msata drive

Hello Philip,

I was following this really old but extremely useful guide on replacing the msata drive on a Dell XPS 2720.

https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-Wiki/XPS-27-one-2720-replace-32GB-mSATA-for-250GB-mSATA/ta-p...

I did follow all the steps and now I have Windows 10 installed on to my new Samsung Evo 860 msata drive. System flies!!! But... I have a problem. There is no way to "see" the 2TB SATA HDD. It's connected but doesn't appear anywhere. Not in Disk Admin, not with Diskpart... I've tested the drive externally and works, it has a partition and operates normally, but when I put it back in the Dell, it just not shows or can be used.

Would you please throw some light at this???

Thank you very much,

Mike

Did your process tell you to unwind the Acceleration configuration prior to starting to replace the drive?

Do you have access to the Intel utility which might allow you to remove the RAID configuration?

Is there a way to get in the RAID controller during boot, such as CTRL+A?

Have you changed the SATA configuration in the Bios?

You might even need to boot the system in Safe Mode, which you can do using Msconfig.exe to see it that will allow a controller change.

Maybe even put the old mSATA drive in so you can undo the acceleration.
