SupportAssist - An unexpected error occurred

When trying to update drivers using the SupportAssist app, it's stops after the validating step with the message "An unexpected error occurred".

Latest successful update ran on 24/8.

(I am running the latest version of SupportAssist)

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Dell Community @steefd

Is your laptop still under warranty???

To better assist you, the members and I would need the exact model number of your laptop/desktop???

Identify your Dell:

No, the laptop is no longer under warranty, but I fail to see what this has to do with a SupportAssist app problem. The app was working fine before.

@steefd

After the warranty expires SA becomes problematic.

"I was told that when the warranty expired I would no longer be able to receive any updates for my computer"

https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Dell-updates-fail-to-install-after-warranty-expires/td-p/7280457

There are many others that report the same thing and other problems with SA after the warranty expires.

I am not sure if that is the cause of your problem with trying to install SA.

Regards,

U2

No, this is not true.

Warranty has nothing to do with driver updates.

My laptop is out of warranty since 2017. SupportAssist worked just fine till a week ago.

Just ran SupportAssist again (without changing anything) and it's working again.

Downloaded and installed 3 updates.
