TB16 / XPS 13 9360 / U2417H and Power supply
Does a Dell U2417H monitor need its own power when plugged in a TB16 dock ? Or can the dock supply it ? (NB : the dock is plugged in a XPS 13 9360)

Yes, the U2417H still needs external power. It only has HDMI, DisplayPort, and Mini-DisplayPort inputs. None of those are able to carry power. Theoretically, if a display had a USB-C input, it could draw power from the device, but I don't know of any displays that do that, probably because the typical USB-C devices you would connect to a display like laptops and docks only provide 7.5 or 15 watts, which isn't a lot for a display -- but it would be enough to drain your laptop battery very quickly. More commonly, a display that has a USB-C input provides power to the connected device so that you can connect your laptop directly to the display in order to charge, output video, and even use USB devices that might be plugged into the display, all from that single cable connection. The only displays I know of that don't require external power are portable 15" USB-powered displays like the ASUS MB16AC, which incidentally is a great solution if you need dual displays on the go.
Just for future reference, this type of question could probably have been answered by paging through the U2417H's manual available on support.dell.com.
